FIDM to display Oscar - nominated Costumes by Deborah Belgum


Costumes of 'Artist', which won the Oscar the year last for best costumes

If you are unable to attend the Oscar ceremony, the next best thing is done at the front and personal with the costumes used in those Oscar nominated films, and then some.

The Institute of design & Merchandising in downtown Los Angeles opens its annual exhibition of the "Art of Motion Picture Costume Design" February 12, days before the Academy Awards take place on February 24.

The line-up of 100 costumes from 20 films looks quite stunning. You can see the costumes of Russian influence in the movie 'Anna Karenina' as well as 'Les Misérables, including costumes designed by Paco Delgado are for an Academy Award. Other spectacular period pieces come from 'Lincoln', designed by Joanna Johnston, and "Snow White and the Huntsman," color forest costumes were created by Colleen Atwood. Other costumes include music from the movies "Mirror Mirror", "Argo", 'The Master', 'Django Unchained' and 'Skyfall '.

FIDM welcomes also earning Oscar the previous year for the design of the costumes. Last year, 'Artist' won for best costume design and are visible among the nominees this year.

It is a spectacular exhibition of design talent which can be seen in Los Angeles. And best of all, admission to the Gallery is free. Exhibition will be open from 10-17 years Tuesday to Saturday. It closes on 27 April.
